WE'RE TAKING THE HOBBITS TO HINCHINGBROOKE (2018)

Having been a fan of the Lord of the Rings for over 50 years, Dominic Whitehead has adapted the story three times for HYT.  This third offering was performed in "promenade" style at a variety of locations in Hinchingbrooke Countryside Park. The HYT team and the rangers at the park set up miniature versions of all of the key locations used in Tolkien's story. The cast sneaked through the woodland setting to recreate the story whilst Gandalf himself guided the audience to each scene. Fortune favoured the brave and not a drop of rain fell during the evening of the performance. Incredible for an English summer.

SINBADALADDIN! (2018)

Why settle for one pantomine when you can have two combined.  Woven loosely around the well known pantos of Aladdin and Sinbad the Sailor, this cleverly worked script threw together Widow Twanky and the Genie of the Lamp and also featured an appearance by HYT's very own pair of grey rodents who manage to turn up for a cameo in most of our less serious pieces.SI

THE MONSTRUM (2017)

Set in a small Middle European village in the late 18th Century, the children of the village are all infected by the Monstrum and become rebellious and difficult (in the way that teenagers often do) until a visiting doctor cures them by lobotomy. When the Mayor's daughter shows the signs though, it is all different!

HYT performend this National Theatre Connections play at home, at the Royal and Derngate in Northampton and then took it on tour to our twin town of Wertheim, Germany.

DRACULA (2015)

HYT' again threw everything, including the kitchen sink, at this colourful and ambitious production. A pair of 15 ft ships masts, three full sized coffins, a gypsy caravan and a fully period costumed cast of 25 young actors, with plenty of Kensington gore to boot, nobody could say HYT didn't enter into the spirit of the thing (pun intended!).

SLEEPING BEAUTY (2014)

Directed by Nicole Matthews, who was assisted by Kieron Wallis – especially when she went away for her honeymoon! – with choreography and extra assistance from Christopher RJ Parker and Ray Livermore. Their first major production working together but one that was a success performed in front of good crowds, including having to set up extra seats to make sure we could fit everyone in!

It also represented the first time we have used a live band in recent years. Led by musical director Roy Bellas, a man who has composed and performed the music for our friends at Shakespeare at the George they bought a new angle to the show and tested our talented youngsters and helped them to learn some new skills
